Amber R. Balk, Ph.D. is a transpersonal educator, researcher, and independent consultant who combines diverse educational and professional backgrounds to provide well-rounded
and unique individual and group services. She provides private sessions, workshops, online courses, and many other psychospiritual development opportunities.
A graduate of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University) in Palo Alto, California, she holds a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology and a MA in Women’s Spirituality. Amber additionally holds a degree in traditional psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma, which emphasized quantitative research methodology. She is well-versed in both mainstream and alternative schools of psychological thought, research, and practice. Yet, her personal path is one of more radical applied transpersonal approaches that are geared toward everyday living and social change.
Her passion lies with innovative community action projects and working with under-served, historically oppressed populations. She is also drawn to overlooked topics with the intention of ushering social change and communal transformation. Primary topics of interest include synchronicity as spiritual practice, the transformational potential of liminal space (especially birth and death), the importance of ritual in psychospiritual well-being, cultural reclamation and preservation, applied Grofian transpersonal theory, intersections between personal aspects of psychospiritual well-being with environmental activism and concern, and a wide range of consciousness studies.
Amber’s longstanding history with social justice, social change, and innovative group approaches and methodologies yield a professional attitude rooted in compassionate service, collaborative spirit, creative inspiration, and grounded practicality.
